| Mission | |
The Joint Operations Support coordinates activities between Defense Research and Engineering branches and their counterparts involved in formal development of operational needs. JOS serves as a focal point for coordination of programs providing research and development support for joint war fighting commanders, and supports Science and Technology Advisors serving joint commanders. JOS participates in forums subordinated to the Joint Requirements Oversight Council (JROC), coordinating expert representation by members of the DR&E staff and other elements of the Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics (AT&L) organization. JOS likewise monitors activities in Defense Capability Portfolio Management (CPM) forums, and directly represents AT&L interests in the Command & Control and Netcentric Warfare portfolio management bodies. The JOS Office provides oversight of Defense funds underwriting Joint Experimentation, Joint Command & Control (C2) Interoperability, Joint (C2) Systems Integration, Joint Fires Integration, and Joint analyses. |
