 Mission

The JRU provides DDR&E a unique surge capability and needs-matched resource that extends OSD's reach into the public and private sector, delivering innovative and non-traditional solutions to the warfighter today and for the future. The JRU's mission is to be a "knowledge network," facilitating sharing and capture of emerging, innovative, and disruptive technologies, to maintain the U.S. military's preeminent capability advantage.

The JRU is focused on:

  • Technical Intelligence and Security
  • Technology Transition and Venture Markets
  • Technical Assessments and Engineering

The JRU’s operational Strategy:

  • Emphasizes the Reserve Science, Technology, Engineering, Venture Capital and Commercial Sector network to provide DDR&E Staff with fresh perspectives through dynamic and innovative thinking while augmenting DDR&E resources for emergent national security issues.
  • Provides an extensive network beyond OSD, facilitating “outside the building” access to R&E laboratories, academic institutions and financial/commercial markets in the public and private sector.
  • Leverages the network and provide DDR&E with technical, financial and commercial experts capable of applying unique skills to emergent and future warfighter needs.
