The Deputy General Counsel (Personnel
& Health Policy) provides legal advice to the Under Secretary of
Defense (Personnel and Readiness); the Assistant Secretaries for Force
Management Policy, Health Affairs and Reserve Affairs; and, for some matters,
the Director of Administration and Management. This office advises
in such areas as military justice, military and civilian personnel, DoD
organization, labor-management relations, equal opportunity, health care,
family policy, and dependents’ education. On the General Counsel’s
behalf, this office coordinates the support provided by the Office of General
Counsel to Presidential nominees for DoD positions. This office oversees
the operations of the Standards of Conduct Office.
